NEW 7 INCH SINGLE AND TOURDATES....NOW!!!

Yes, it's true! We are releasing a brand new split 7 inch single with "Shrug" (from Middlesbrough) this week. "The Bent Moustache" track is entitled "Mind Your Language Cock"......a blast at the new right wing tendencies and policies of nationalist Europeans and their sad ilk. An examination of pigheadedness from the other side of the non-white fence. The "Shrug" track is entitled "Hood Street Gyratory".....one man's personal journey to find himself in this higgledy-piggledy world.

poster bm

The single is released on our own Wormer Bros. label, and can be ordered in the UK and Benelux through your local indie record store, or you can order directly from me (ajay@xs4all.nl)

In support of the release of the new 7 inch, we will be doing some shows with "Shrug" and "Hey-O-Hansen" (the latter from Berlin...dynamic dubstep duo who are also releasing a 7 inch single). Showdates are:

Thursday 3 June 2010......AMSTERDAM @ Occii
Friday 4 June 2010............HOORN @ SWAF
Saturday 5 June 2010.......WORMERVEER @ De Groote Weiver

The Bent Moustache and The Ex play at De Groote Weiver in Krommenie

Saturday 23 January 2010 marks the opening of the new De Groote Weiver. Formerly a squat venue / venue / filmhall / cafe in Krommenie, the original building was demolished by Gemeente Zaanstad (the most inane decision ever made by the most ridiculous county council ever!). But now, after 3.5 years hard work by a group of volunteers, the new DGW will open. And to mark the event, there are 2 opening parties. On Saturday 23 January, we will play on the same bill as our old friends "The Ex". It will be a great evening of music, nostalgia, and a time to look forward to great things that will happen within the 4 walls of DGW

On 30 december 2009, Ajay will be interviewed live on Radio Tees (along with Rob from the brilliant band "Shrug") between 8pm and 10pm. We will be talking about the Death To Trad Rock scene from the 80s (both "Shrug" and "Dandelion Adventure" - Ajay's band in England - are featured in John Robb's fab "Death To Trad Rock" book which came out this year to critical acclaim), and we will be playing new tracks from "The Bent Moustache" and "Shrug", and talking about our forthcoming gig in Middlesbrough on Monday 10 January 2010. So tune in, and hear great banter and fine tunes to warm your winter heart.

the new 7 inch single will be distributed in the UK by Forte Distribution in the New Year, in time to tie in with our UK tour. Perfect timing.

Also, Saturday 23 January 2010 is a date to put in your diaries as we will play our first Dutch show of the year at the opening of "De Groote Weiver", with "The Ex" and "De Kift". "De Groote Weiver" in Krommenie was our old squat venue/bar, and was closed down 4 years ago. After much hard work by many people, a new location for DGW was found and after alot of building and painting, we finally have our beloved DGW back. 22 and 23 January are the dates for the big opening.

As well as the new 7 inch single release, there have been other sonic offerings from within the band. USA band of the year "ANIMAL COLLECTIVE" just released a 10" single with "Brothersport" on the A-side and a live version of "Bleeding" on the B-side which was recorded and mixed by Ajay from....yup..."The Bent Moustache".

Also, USA band "WAUMISS" from Chapel Hill have just released a magnificent new s/t album on "Odessa Records" (ODE-05), and on there is a remix of one of their tracks "Nightengale" which Ajay also did.

• 7 inch single

on Friday 13 November 2009 we will be presenting our new 7 inch single to the world. Featuring 2 songs, "counterinsurgencylifestylejunkies" and "Loyalty Scheme", the single will be released on our own Wormer Bros. label.

"counterinsurgencylifestylejunkies" features Johannes v/d Weert (Rondos / The Ex) on vocals. A sharp acerbic examination of the new loadsa money generation who know no crisis backed by a punk as fuck soundtrack that recalls the might and magic of PIL, Gang Of Four, Crass and Aphex Twin all rolled into one song!

"Loyalty Scheme" is a live favourite in the TBM canon and has made it to vinyl! It features Guggy (Seabear) on violin. An aural autopsy of the grotesque lives lead by the white sneaker brigade and the all talk but no action would be subversives. Icelandic employers are not excused. Think The Fall sharing a pint with The Albion Band.

• happy new year everyone

We hope you all had a fine xmas break and are not whining about this so called bleedin' recession. One present per person is enough, just like in the good old days.

We will be writing new songs the coming weeks for our next album. Gotta get organised about that, but we are all ready to start some hard work on this. Ideas coursing through our veins and brains. We will do some shows in Iceland in February for sure, playing with some fine bands over there. Will also be looking to do some european shows in the spring as well.

The blog is up and running again, so feel free to check that out. And the band's top 10 of 2008 will be up there as well in the next day or so.

Keep warm and feel free to write to us about......anything.

• Friends

Another year draws to an end and it's a time for reflection of events that have passed and a time to look forward to adventures that are awaiting in the new year. For "The Bent Moustache", 2007 was a pretty exciting year. There was the release of the debut CD "Forst" (on the Amsterdam based "Transformed Dreams" label), which was met with favourable reviews. We toured the USA for 8 weeks as openers to legendary indie heroes "Sebadoh". We did a VPRO "3 Voor 12" session. There were gigs played in London and Holland, and culminating at the State-X festival in Den Haag. And there were various line-up changes, but I'm glad to report that we have a stable band line-up now which has brought new energy and fresh and exciting ideas to the band. Welcome Nora, Maaike and Gijs. 2008 promises to shower us with goodies galore....we start by playing at the wonderful Merleyn in Nijmegen, and then embark on a 2 week tour of Italy and Britain at the end of January / start of February (check "Shows"). As well as 8 shows in a row in the UK, we have been asked to record 3 radio sessions (Resonance, Salford City Radio, XFM). Good times! We will also do a tour of Holland in late May with the wonderful "Shrug" (www.myspace.com/robshrug). And there will be a new record out by us before the end of the year. Our cup overfloweth with goodness and we wish you all a very happy and healthy 2008. Peace out

>> watch it on video now
Friends, we did a VPRO session on Wednesday 6 June 2007 for "3 Voor 12" show. We played 2 brand new compositions entitled "The Physics Of Empire Part 1" and "The Physics Of Empire Part 2". It was originally intended as one long 20 minute piece. However the VPRO bods couldn't handle this concept and we were cornered into changing it. On top of all that, if you were listening to the show, you would have heard that our first song was faded out rather ignominiously and segued into the "Scissor Sisters!". So here are the 2 compositions in their entirety for your listening pleasure.

• Pim will NOT be joining us on our tour of the USA. His place will be taken by Jer Reid (of Scottish agit-prop eclectic guitar heroes "Dawson"). We are really looking forward to having him play in the band with us. Pim will be fulfilling commitments with "De Kift".

Happy Newyear
A very happy new year to you all. Many thanks for taking the time to check-in with our little band.Did you get any good presents for Chrimble? I got these ace KRK V6 monitors for my/our studio. Sounding sweet! I'm sitting in the studio with a wee bit of downtime, as we are in the process of mixing our debut album!!! So far so good. We have recorded 11 songs, all bursting with juicy bits and pleasing to behold. The "Distressor" is purring and the tape echo unit has chugged into life. It will officially be out in Europa on 7 May, and we will, off course, be selling the said record on our next tour. "And when is your next tour?" I hear you all cry.........
Well, we are accompanying the succulent "Sebadoh" through the United States of America and Canada! The tour take place between 26 February to 16 April (check the full tourdates on the "Shows" page).
We've still got to come up with a title for the album and a sleeve. Any ideas? Send them to us.
I hope this is the start of a fab year of making, playing and listening to music. I hope you will have listening pleasure too.

• Before we knew of the invitation to tour the U.S.A. with the 'doh, we had been planning on starting to record our debut album with a view to releasing it in February sometime. Well, recording of said album has begun, and early indications are that it's going to be a cracker! We are doing it all ourselves in our space-studio, and it will be a collision of pop-noise songs, dub spazz-outs, droneatronica. <27 nov 2006>
